Most of the online schools are not selective and of low quality. But there are a few high quality selective schools (usually programs from brick and mortar schools).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3253049857052806939.post-46257125024827242652010-06-17T22:28:17.918-07:002010-06-17T22:28:17.918-07:00Why would anyone waste there time on such an endea...Why would anyone waste there time on such an endeavor... no one would take this seriously in academic world. My guess is in addition to convenience these programs have no standards for entry. What a waste of 5 + years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3253049857052806939.post-62548616666719620022009-04-24T16:20:00.000-07:002009-04-24T16:20:00.000-07:00I agree with you. The only thing right now is that most professors do not see online degrees as legit.Vhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06802668065567312309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3253049857052806939.post-28593775372552090482009-04-23T08:57:00.000-07:002009-04-23T08:57:00.000-07:00I actually completely disagree with you on this su...I actually completely disagree with you on this subject. In the 21st century we are (and will become more so) a globalized world reliant on technology as a key means of communication. Today, we have use technology, such as emails, teleconferences, and web cams to have meetings and conferences with people on the other side of the world. The same is going to be true with the educational field. The popularity of online Ph.D. programs has increased tremendously over the past 5 years, and will continue to do so. More and more institutions are accepting the fact that we live in a technologically driven society, and can use this technology to deliver products (such as education) that was never once possible. Right now, there is a great deal of the older generations still in academia who are still "old school" and only believe in traditional methods. But, once they retire, the next generation will take their place, who will be much more accepting of the online degree and its credibility.

So, I say for all you aspiring doctors who work full-time, have a family, live in a remote location, etc. and find it impossible to do an on-ground program, definitely go for the online degree. It will be just as rigorous, you will walk away with the same amount of knowledge, and you will be just as marketable in the next 5 years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
