Being a doctoral student is not the worst thing in the world...

  1. One of my friends finished his PhD two years ago and still can't find a job. He's become so bitter about the whole thing. All it takes is mention of one trigger word related to academia and he's railing for half an hour about the injustices of the system. We have some great chats, wish I'd been recording them from the beginning.

  2. Well, I understand him. Being unemployed is somewhat normal in a free-market economy. But being unemployed when you have above-average intelligence and years of training is just too much.
